The United Arab Emirates can now lay claim to hosting the world's tallest landmark sign after the Guinness World Records officially recognized the Liwa sign in Abu Dhabi. Standing an impressive 23.5 meters tall the massive 49-tonne metal structure towers over its predecessors in Hollywood and Dubai. Installed in the Al Dhafra region by the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport the Liwa sign is situated 197 meters above sea level on a prominent hill, making it visually striking from kilometers away. Its size and elevation ensure it dominates the landscape and enhances tourism efforts for the surrounding rural Liwa area. Home to key cultural festivals each year, Liwa aims to spotlight its heritage and dates industry. Dubai has added another Guinness World Records title to its name by creating the largest display of solar-powered light bulbs arranged in the shape of a Ghaf tree. Over 3,000 solar lanterns were used to illuminate the iconic tree design on Sheikh Zayed Road yesterday evening.  The impressive installation was organised by Al-Futtaim Group in collaboration with students from Deira International School and Universal American School.
