Sharjah Waste To Energy Plant: Turning Trash into Treasure

Image
Many of us have played the 'Best Out of Waste' game during our childhood, but little did we know that recycling and repurposing would become essential practices to sustain the planet. The Sharjah Waste To Energy Plant in the Middle East is a prime example of how waste can be transformed into a valuable resource. The plant was inaugurated about a year ago and has since achieved many milestones. The latest feat is the successful processing of 1,00,000 tonnes of waste. The converted energy can power over 2000 homes for a year, making a significant contribution to the UAE's sustainable energy goals. The Mleiha farm is expected to produce some 1,600 tonnes of wheat annually, which is a small but significant step towards achieving the country's long-term goal of increasing its farming industry. Khalifa Alteneiji, chairman of Sharjah's Department of Agriculture and Livestock, stated that the lack of arable land was the driving force behind the government's decision to initiate wheat farming. He add...
