Most recently the UAE has dispatched a substantial relief shipment of over 1,166 tonnes of essential food items to the region. The food aid departed from Larnaca Port in Cyprus onboard a vessel and arrived at the Port of Ashdod in Israel. The United Arab Emirates, in partnership with American Near East Refugee Aid, announced on Sunday that it had delivered 400 tons of food aid to Gaza. The delivery, mainly to the northern areas of the enclave, is enough to feed about 120,000 people, the Emirates News Agency reported. Emirati Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashemi said: "The safe and successful delivery and distribution of food aid by the UAE to the Gaza Strip, particularly the northern Gaza Strip, marks a significant step up in the process."
