  The signing of the free trade agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is a watershed moment in Middle Eastern history. For the first time, the Jewish state has entered into an economic agreement with an Arab country, paving the way for increased trade and cooperation between the two countries.  Both countries signed a customs agreement on Sunday, paving the way for the May 2022 agreement to take effect.
