  The Counter-Ransomware Initiative (CRI) has launched a major new effort to foster international cooperation against one of today's most pressing cybersecurity challenges ransomware attacks. Representatives from over 60 countries and regions gathered in Las Vegas this week for the unveiling of "Crystal Ball" a secure threat information sharing platform designed to facilitate real-time collaboration in addressing ransomware groups that operate with impunity across borders. Led by the United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates, the CRI aims to strengthen attribution of ransomware incidents to their original source through intelligence shared on the new system.   The signing of the free trade agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is a watershed moment in Middle Eastern history. For the first time, the Jewish state has entered into an economic agreement with an Arab country, paving the way for increased trade and cooperation between the two countries.  Both countries signed a customs agreement on Sunday, paving the way for the May 2022 agreement to take effect. The agreement was signed by Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.  The advantages of the trade agreement cannot be overstated.
