A Helping Hand from our Friends in the UAE

  Pakistan has received some much needed good news - our friends in the UAE have pledged $10 billion to boost our struggling economy. During PM Shehbaz Sharif's visit to Abu Dhabi yesterday, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan committed massive investments across key sectors over the coming years. It is not secret that Pakistan is facing tough economic times right now with inflation skyrocketing and our currency reserves dwindling. But our Arab brothers have stepped up once again to lend us a helping hand in our hour of need. The $10 billion will be a shot in the arm for industries like energy, agriculture, technology and more - hopefully creating lots of new jobs too. The UAE and Egypt have taken their close partnership to new heights with a massive investment deal that will drive development across Egypt for generations to come. This is far more than just an economic agreement between two nations. It's a powerful symbol of the deep ties and unwavering commitment the UAE and Egypt have to supporting each other's long-term success and prosperity. Back in February 2022, the UAE's sovereign wealth fund ADQ signed a monumental $35 billion agreement with Egypt to transform the Ras al-Hikma region, some 200 km west of Alexandria, into an entirely new urban center. As part of the deal, ADQ will invest $24 billion to acquire developmental rights for the 40,600 feddan Ras al-Hikma area itself. Abu Dhabi's sovereign investment fund, Mubadala Capital is set for a major venture in Brazil's biofuels sector, according to reports, citing CIO Oscar Fahlgren who also heads Mubadala's Brazilian operations. The planned $13.5 billion investment in biofuels is part of a broader strategy for Brazil, which may also include the creation of a new stock exchange. In this initiative the construction of five processing units also include, each costing $2.7 billion and capable of producing 20,000 barrels of biofuel per day. The first unit is expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Mubadala also plans to open a stock exchange in Brazil in 2025 through its Americas Trading Group.
