Dubai Sets New Record for Largest Solar Light Display

Dubai has added another Guinness World Records title to its name by creating the largest display of solar-powered light bulbs arranged in the shape of a Ghaf tree. Over 3,000 solar lanterns were used to illuminate the iconic tree design on Sheikh Zayed Road yesterday evening.

The impressive installation was organised by Al-Futtaim Group in collaboration with students from Deira International School and Universal American School. It aimed to celebrate International Earth Month and raise awareness about sustainability as part of Dubai's Year of Tolerance and Year of Sustainability initiatives.

Each light bulb was powered solely by the solar energy harnessed during the day through portable mini solar panels. Guinness World Records adjudicators were on hand to validate that the display comprised of over 3,000 illuminated bulbs to set the new record.

In a gesture of goodwill, the solar lanterns used in the record-breaking installation will be donated to off-grid communities in the Philippines who lack access to electricity. It highlights Dubai's commitment to scaling renewable solutions worldwide.
