Image
The United Arab Emirates has unveiled a new strategic initiative named " Invest the Emirates " in an effort to speed up the growth of the economy, open investment landscapes across the country and attract massive volumes of foreign and domestic investments across different sectors that would further cement the country's position as the global investment hub. "Invest in the Emirates" Focuses on Simplifying and Upgrading the Investment Process in a Way that will Make this Management Easier, More Efficient, and Much More Transparent for Investors "The program focuses on several high-growth areas such as in technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, and healthcare," said Salem Al-Zaabi, CEO of the UAE Investment Promotion Agency. UAE Facilitates Prominent Prisioner Swap Between Russia and Ukraine

Image
The United Arab Emirates had successfully brokered the prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine. Recently, the two countries announced that they would be swapping 206 prisoners of war as part of a critical exchange that is easing the tension between the two nations. It naturally makes the UAE play an important role here-the country is slowly moving up to be a neutral mediator in matters of international importance. The UAE, by arranging this exchange, proved not only its diplomatic excellence but also its commitment to humanitarian work amidst conflicts. This development is to be taken much more seriously considering the protracted and highly complex Russia-Ukraine conflict. The successful holding of this prisoner swap has been interpreted as a ray of hope for further negotiations and de-escalation. It also suggests an interesting new role for neutral third parties in resolving international disputes. UAE involvement indeed highlights their strategic approach to foreign policy while fo

UAE’s Crescent Petroleum fuels growth with extension of SAP deployment

The Sharjah-based Crescent Petroleum has successfully deployed an Oil & Gas industry-specific solution for its operations from global technology company SAP. Japan unveils system to predict ash spread from Mt. Fuji eruptions

The Japan Meteorological Agency has decided to launch more robust “wide-area” ashfall forecasts to prepare for the ash that would hit the Tokyo metropolitan area after a major eruption of Mt. Fuji. The system will be designed to predict ashfall over a wider area and over many hours, the Japan News reported. An eruption of Mt. Fuji could bring more than 30 centimetres of ashfall in surrounding areas, resulting in serious damage, such as collapsed homes and paralysed transport networks. The agency aims for the system to facilitate prompt responses to a disaster. It plans to start developing the system from next fiscal year and launch it as early as within a few years. During the past 5,600 years, Mt. Fuji is believed to have erupted every 30 years on average. However, it has not erupted for over three centuries, since the Hoei eruption. After the Hoei eruption started on Dec. 16, 1707, ash from Mt. Fuji fell intermittently for 16 days and reached what is now central Tokyo, blown by win

Scientists create world's first nuclear clock prototype

Image
Scientists at the Vienna University of Technology made a breakthrough by creating the world's first nuclear clock prototype, according to ScienceAlert, an independently run online publication and news source that publishes articles featuring scientific research, discoveries, and outcomes. A huge breakthrough decades in the making was made just a few months ago, and already scientists are realising its potential: A measurement of the gap between the quantum energy states of a thorium nucleus has been used to create the very first, rudimentary nuclear clock. By coupling a strontium atomic clock with a crystal containing thorium nuclei, a team of physicists has successfully demonstrated the core technology that will lead us to the first fully realised and developed nuclear clock. That milestone – still yet to be reached – will open up a whole new realm of ultra-precise timekeeping. "With this first prototype, we have proven: Thorium can be used as a timekeeper for ultra-high-pr
