The President of UAE pledges to offer aid to Lebanon to the tune of 100 million dollars




Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, has ordered for an immediate $100 duty cover assistance to be sent to the people of Lebanon, WAM, the the Emirates news agency reports. 


This sad announcement comes at a time when Lebanon has become one of the countries that needed humanitarian aid the most. Currently, the entire nation is in a state of conflict, in the last one year engaged military activities in Gaza against Hamas has extended to Lebanon against Hezbollah, who have been prompting the hostilities through their actions. 


The strife has crippled basic amenities reconstructing uprooted lives and caused exodus for the most in Gaza and Lebanon. Rest basic straight such as power, healthcare have been affected and the general economic situation gone from bad to worse. 


Within the confines of Lebanon, officials have reported that in addition to more than 1000 casualties sustained over the past weeks from continuous Israeli airstrikes, countless others have had injuries. This latest bout of violence has increased tensions in a region that is already teetering on the brink of war – the Middle East.


UAE as part of its foreign policy intention helps to the Lebanese people suffering from and impacted by the war. It also emphasizes that ‘this initiative is in line with the ongoing efforts of the UAE to provide assistance to Lebanon with the latest developments, in particular the resolve of the UAE to stand by the Lebanese people’.


Global humanitarian efforts and causes are actively supported by the UAE government. It is reflected in the aid allocation of 100 million dollars given the crisis in Lebanon is exacerbating within the context of increased regional tensions and masses of Lebanese facing dire economic conditions.
