On Sunday UN climate summit COP27 begins in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, amid mounting calls for rich countries to compensate poorer nations hardest hit by climate change. The summit will see delegates from around the world attending the annual meeting on climate change negotiations. Diplomats from more than 130 countries are expected to press for the creation of a dedicated loss and damage financing mechanism at COP27. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed will lead a high-level delegation of people to the conference, which offers the UAE an opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships for sustainable development and support international climate change initiatives.
