Abu Dhabi hosts an international conference for snow maintenance and building ski halls

Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is hosting an international conference for snow maintenance and building ski halls for the first time in Asia.  The work of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s International Ice Hockey Federation (IIFH) conference began on October 24. It is set to run until October 27.  

Reportedly, around five experts from America, Sweden and Finland will lecture at the four-day conference. The Asian member states of the Asian Confederation will participate with 2 operators of each ski hall from each country. Around 10 hall operators in the UAE will also participate in the event.  

The conference highlights the UAE's continued development and acquisition of skills in various fields. The guests will talk about snow and its practical application in the Abu Dhabi Ice Skating Hall in Zayed Sports City. At the end of the event, the participants will also receive certificates accredited by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Ski hall operators in the UAE will also participate in the event. Around four engineers from the Abu Dhabi Ski Hall, 2 technicians from the Dubai Mall Ski Hall, the “Sports Society” ski hall, and 2 from the “Heli” hall in Al Ain will participate. 

Hamel Ahmed Al Qubaisi, the Vice-President of the Emirates Winter Sports Federation, said that the selection of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Abu Dhabi, as the first Asian nation to hold this conference, highlights the achievement of the UAE.  

According to Hamel Ahmed Al Qubaisi, the officials in the Emirates Winter Sports Federation cherish and the UAE deserved this opportunity for its distinguished role in winter sports. The cooperation between The Emirates Federation and the International Ice Hockey Federation to develop the game also helped the country in achieving this milestone.  

The Vice President of the Emirates Federation also said that the presence of the headquarters of the Asian Ice Hockey Office in Abu Dhabi makes the UAE capital a continental and international centre for game development programs in Asia and the world.  The Facilities Committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation pays great attention to building and maintaining Snow and ski gym construction.
