UAE's NCM Hosts High-Level Delegation from China

In a significant move towards enhancing international meteorological collaboration, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in the United Arab Emirates recently welcomed a distinguished delegation from the People’s Republic of China. The visit was led by Dr. CHEN Zhenlin, President of the China Meteorological Authority and Permanent Representative of China to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

This high-level meeting underscores the shared commitment of both nations to advance scientific research, share expertise, and strengthen early warning systems in the face of increasing climate challenges. The NCM, known for its technological innovation and leadership in weather forecasting across the region, engaged in strategic discussions with the Chinese delegation to explore avenues for data sharing, joint research, and capacity building.

Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director General of the NCM and President of the WMO, emphasized the importance of such partnerships in promoting global resilience against extreme weather events. “Collaboration with nations like China enables us to leverage collective knowledge and technology for the betterment of global communities,” he said.

The visit also highlighted the UAE’s growing role in shaping international meteorological policy, with a focus on sustainability, climate adaptation, and smart weather monitoring solutions.

As both countries continue to invest in cutting-edge meteorological science, this partnership is set to pave the way for enhanced global weather intelligence—crucial in an era of climate unpredictability.
