UAE Launches Global Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Collaboration with Google Cloud
In a major step toward enhancing global cybersecurity capabilities, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the launch of a Global Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Google Cloud. This strategic initiative follows the official visit of HH Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the United States of America, highlighting a forward-thinking approach to national and global digital security.
Key Objectives:
Drive research and development for advanced and sustainable cybersecurity solutions, with intellectual property rights retained by the UAE.
Support and accelerate startups through collaboration with Google for Startups programs.
Establish the Google Cybersecurity Academy headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Expected Outcomes:
Prevent cybercrime-related losses estimated at USD 6.8 billion by 2030.
Attract foreign direct investment of approximately USD 1.4 billion by 2030.
Create over 20,000 specialized cybersecurity jobs within the UAE.
Implementation Mechanisms:
Real-time simulations to test and improve cyberattack response strategies.
Strengthened collaboration with academic institutions, regulators, entrepreneurs, and SMEs.
Active contribution to the global cybersecurity ecosystem with Google's expertise.
Accreditation of training materials, development of local and global trainers, and launch of new cybersecurity academies worldwide by Google Cybersecurity Academy.
