UAE President to Visit Nigeria in 2025, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

 Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit Nigeria in 2025. The invitation was extended during bilateral talks held on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025. The meeting highlights the growing partnership between the two nations, focusing on economic cooperation and shared development goals.



President Tinubu, who attended ADSW 2025 as a guest of the UAE leader, commended the UAE's commitment to sustainability and innovation. He also expressed Nigeria’s readiness to foster deeper ties with the UAE, emphasizing the positive outcomes of recent economic reforms in his country. Tinubu noted that these reforms have bolstered investor confidence, leading to significant investments from global businesses, including international oil companies.

In response, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his admiration for Nigeria’s economic progress and reform agenda. He reiterated the UAE’s willingness to collaborate with Nigeria on projects that promote economic development and sustainability. The UAE President also highlighted the importance of Nigeria as a key partner in Africa and globally.

The bilateral discussions also included strategies for attracting investment into Nigeria and exploring opportunities in critical sectors such as energy, industry, and infrastructure. Both leaders acknowledged the need for enhanced cooperation to address global challenges, including climate change and sustainable development.

Accompanying President Tinubu at the high-level meeting were Nigerian officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. On the UAE side, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan were present, along with other senior officials such as Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.

This forthcoming visit by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to further solidify UAE-Nigeria relations, setting the stage for increased collaboration in trade, investment, and sustainable development. It also underscores the UAE’s commitment to building strategic partnerships across Africa, fostering mutual prosperity and progress for both nations.
