Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Visits UAE to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

 The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Monday for a working visit, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the longstanding partnership between the two nations.



Strengthening Ties at Qasr Al Shati

President Tokayev was warmly received by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors.

The talks highlighted the themes of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, a global platform for fostering dialogue and the exchange of ideas to advance sustainability initiatives for the betterment of countries and communities worldwide.

Expanding Economic and Strategic Cooperation

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed underscored the robust ties between the UAE and Kazakhstan, which have flourished since their establishment in 1993. He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to deepening collaboration in areas such as renewable energy, trade, economy, investment, agriculture, and space exploration.

With UAE investments in Kazakhstan already exceeding $4 billion, both leaders expressed aspirations to boost bilateral trade to $1 billion, a significant increase from the $632 million recorded in 2022.

The partnership is further strengthened through shared engagements in multilateral platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, where the UAE holds Dialogue Partner status.

A Shared Vision for Global Challenges

The leaders exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of resolving conflicts through diplomacy and enhancing global cooperation to address shared challenges. Climate change, a critical concern for both nations, was a central topic of discussion.

President Tokayev praised Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week for its crucial role in raising global awareness about sustainability issues, ensuring the well-being of future generations.

Warm Reception and Shared Aspirations

Upon his arrival at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi, President Tokayev was received by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, along with other senior officials.

President Tokayev expressed gratitude for the UAE’s warm hospitality and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to advancing its ties with the UAE. He highlighted the shared development goals of both nations and the mutual benefits of fostering closer economic and cultural relations.
