UAE and China: Strengthening Decades of Friendship and Global Cooperation

Liao Liqiang, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Egypt, has applauded the robust and enduring relationship between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China. This relationship, which has deepened over several decades, continues to flourish as both nations work collaboratively toward shared goals of progress and stability.

A Model of Development and Leadership

Ambassador Liao highlighted the visionary leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under whom the UAE has become a global model of innovation, progress, and sustainable development. He praised the nation’s forward-looking policies, which have elevated its status as a hub for trade, technology, and diplomacy in the Arab world and beyond.

“The UAE is an inspiring example of what can be achieved with dedication and wise leadership,” Liao remarked, underscoring its role as a pivotal player in fostering regional and international partnerships.

UAE Joins BRICS: A Milestone in Global Economic Cooperation

Ambassador Liao expressed particular delight at the UAE's inclusion in the BRICS group, a coalition of some of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This milestone marks a significant moment for the UAE, aligning it with major global economic powers and opening new opportunities for collaboration.

“This step not only strengthens the UAE’s ties with BRICS nations but also reinforces its partnership with China,” the ambassador stated. He highlighted how this alignment supports strategic goals, including advancing economic cooperation, promoting regional stability, and fostering sustainable development.

The UAE’s role in BRICS is expected to amplify its influence on global economic policies while facilitating stronger East-West connections, further cementing its position as a vital global player.

Strengthening Ties with the Arab World

The ambassador’s comments came during a meeting with Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament. In the meeting, Liao presented an official congratulatory letter from the Speaker of the Chinese Parliament, acknowledging Al Yamahi's election as Speaker of the Arab Parliament. This gesture underscored China’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Arab nations and fostering collaboration on economic and political fronts.

Liao emphasized the importance of the UAE’s leadership in the Arab region, noting how its development-oriented approach sets an example for neighboring countries. The ambassador expressed optimism about deepening China’s partnerships with Arab states through shared initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and joint economic forums.

A Vision for Peace and Sustainability

During the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East. Ambassador Liao noted that the UAE and China share a common vision for addressing global challenges, including hunger, climate change, and economic disparities, through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions.

The UAE’s growing presence on the international stage, coupled with its strategic alliances, was praised as a key factor in shaping policies that prioritize sustainable development and peace.

UAE and China: A Partnership for the Future

The meeting and the ambassador’s remarks reflect the deep-rooted friendship and shared aspirations between the UAE and China. From economic cooperation through BRICS to fostering Arab-China relations, both nations continue to set an example of how partnerships built on mutual respect and shared goals can drive progress.

As the UAE and China work together to address regional and global challenges, their evolving relationship serves as a beacon of international collaboration, reinforcing the principles of peace, sustainability, and prosperity for future generations.
