The historic and flourishing ties between Bahrain and the UAE took center stage at the Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2024, where Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Bahrain’s Minister of Youth Affairs, praised the collaborative efforts of the two nations. Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Minister Tawfiqi highlighted the shared principles and vision that have driven the UAE and Bahrain toward mutual growth and development under the leadership of their respective governments.

A Comprehensive Approach to Youth Empowerment

Minister Tawfiqi outlined Bahrain’s forward-thinking strategy for empowering its youth, which is integral to the nation’s governance framework.

  1. Talent Development Initiatives
Bahrain has introduced a structured methodology to identify, refine, and showcase young talents. Central to this effort is the creation of a national talent database, which aims to map the skills and potential of Bahraini youth, guiding them toward meaningful careers and opportunities.

  2. Youth-Led Problem Solving
The ‘Mustashar Service’ empowers Bahraini youth by directly involving them in addressing societal challenges. This initiative underscores the government’s belief in the capacity of young people to envision innovative solutions and lead transformative changes.

  3. Youth Integration in Governance
Tawfiqi emphasized that the needs of young people are seamlessly integrated into Bahrain’s governmental programme, ensuring their concerns are addressed and their potential nurtured at every level of policymaking.

“We place our full trust in Bahraini youth as they are best equipped to envision the future and provide solutions to challenges,” said Tawfiqi.

UAE-Bahrain Collaboration in Action

The minister lauded the UAE and Bahrain’s deep-rooted partnership in youth development, citing numerous joint initiatives that foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

  • Bilateral Agreements and Initiatives
Several agreements between the two nations have enabled the launch of impactful youth programmes, nurturing stronger ties and a spirit of unity between their young citizens.

  • Hope Network: A Collaborative Endeavor
Tawfiqi highlighted the latest collaboration—the UAE’s participation in Bahrain’s ‘Hope Network’. This initiative, launched in November 2024, aims to unite countries that believe in the transformative potential of their youth. By connecting institutions and individuals, the network promotes innovation, shared goals, and regional solidarity.

“Collaborative efforts like the Hope Network symbolize the shared commitment of the UAE and Bahrain to empower their youth as architects of a brighter future,” Tawfiqi said.
