UAE Pledges Strong Support for Lebanon’s Stability at Paris Conference Amid Crisis

In an extraordinary show of support for Lebanon, the UAE, led by Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, joined the Paris-hosted International Conference for Support of Lebanon and Its Sovereignty. Called by the French Presidency and attended by over 70 countries alongside international bodies like the UN, EU, and regional organizations, the conference aimed to address Lebanon’s mounting political and humanitarian crises.

In her speech, Minister Al Kaabi expressed the UAE’s deep concern over Lebanon’s deteriorating security and humanitarian conditions, which she noted risk stability in the broader region. She emphasized the UAE's firm commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity, underscoring the importance of supporting Lebanon’s people as they face ongoing challenges.

UAE’s Humanitarian Assistance and Aid to Lebanon

To address the escalating humanitarian needs in Lebanon, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered an urgent relief aid package of $100 million, dedicated to meeting immediate needs in essential sectors such as food, healthcare, shelter, education, and infrastructure. Additionally, Sheikh Mohamed allocated $30 million in aid to Lebanese refugees currently residing in Syria. The UAE’s sustained aid reflects its commitment to alleviating Lebanon’s hardships and underscores its role as a leading supporter in the region.

Recognizing Lebanon’s acute food insecurity, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, activated the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation to deliver emergency food aid to Lebanon. This initiative is part of a larger UAE relief campaign, Emirates with You, Lebanon, which is mobilized through cooperation with the Lebanese government and several international partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The UAE's comprehensive assistance campaign includes an air bridge of 14 aircraft loaded with essential medical supplies, food, and shelter materials. This initiative mobilized both government and citizen efforts in the UAE, showcasing a unified commitment to supporting Lebanon during this critical period.

The UAE's Call for Global Commitment to Lebanon’s Peace and Sovereignty

During the Paris conference, Minister Al Kaabi urged the international community to redouble efforts toward ending Lebanon’s humanitarian crisis and restoring stability. Specifically, she called for the complete implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1170, demanding the cessation of hostilities and an end to the cycle of violent escalations. With over 1.4 million people displaced due to military operations, the need for food, shelter, and medical services has reached critical levels, requiring swift, coordinated action to stabilize affected communities.

In her address, Minister Al Kaabi also condemned continued Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty, particularly its disregard for Resolution 1701, and warned against the consequences of war escalation in the Middle East. The UAE expressed its grave concern for the safety of UN peacekeepers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), emphasizing the need to ensure these forces' security as they work to protect civilians.

UAE’s Steadfast Support of Lebanon’s Future

As a pivotal player in the Middle East and an enduring friend to Lebanon, the UAE’s commitment to Lebanon’s people, sovereignty, and stability is reflected in both its diplomatic actions and humanitarian investments. The recent initiatives announced at the Paris conference demonstrate the UAE’s dedication to partnering with Lebanon and the global community to foster lasting stability, peace, and prosperity in Lebanon and the region.

The UAE remains steadfast in its pursuit of a peaceful and stable Lebanon, setting a leading example in the international effort to support those in need during times of crisis.
