Defense Minister Heads to UAE for Important Talks

Greece's Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dandia, will leave the sunny shores of Athens for a trip abroad this weekend. Its destination? United Arab Emirates. Dandias will spend two full days meeting with key UAE government officials to discuss further strengthening of ties between the two countries.

For starters, Dendias has a sit-down scheduled with Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadel Al Mazroue, Minister of State for Defense Affairs. You can bet this meeting will be all about exploring new avenues for cooperation on defense and security issues. As strategic partners, Greece and the UAE have been working more closely together in recent years on important projects in these areas.

In addition to chatting with Al Mazroue, Dendias will also connect with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs. These guys will no doubt chat about collaborating on additional fronts, like trade and industry. It's always great for countries to have open lines of communication at the highest levels.

Even though it only a short two day trip, you can tell the Dendias aim to spend as much time abroad as possible. From early morning meetings to late night talks, his schedule is packed with important diplomatic engagements. The purpose of the visit is to take the already strong partnership between Greece and the UAE to new heights.

Given the rapidly changing dynamics in the region regular face to face interactions between allies are invaluable. The Dandies shows the two countries' commitment to their relationship. It will be interesting to see what new avenues of cooperation emerge from the important discussions.
