UAE AND FRANCE COOPERATE TO FURTHER PEACE IN SUDAN

The presidents of the UAE and France discussed strengthening cooperation to support peace efforts in Sudan during a phone call.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron. They reviewed outcomes of last week's International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan hosted in Paris.

The conference gathered global leaders to galvanize humanitarian and diplomatic support for the people of Sudan. Participants agreed on the need to find a permanent, peaceful resolution to conflicts plaguing the country.

President Macron and Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the importance of continued negotiations to achieve lasting stability in Sudan. Both nations are committed to helping Sudan transition to a more secure and prosperous future.

Acknowledging the severity of Sudan's humanitarian crisis, the UAE pledged an additional $100 million in aid during the conference. This increases the UAE's total relief assistance for Sudan to $150 million over the past year.

Funds will go towards meeting basic needs like food, shelter and healthcare. The new field hospital established by the UAE in Chad's Abéché city is helping address medical demands of Sudanese refugees.

The phone call reaffirmed the strong strategic partnership between the UAE and France. Both leaders agreed to bolster cooperation across spheres to support diplomatic efforts for peace in Sudan. Their nations will keep working with the international community on conflict resolution and humanitarian relief.

Through open dialogue and coordinated action, the UAE and France are making meaningful contributions to stability in Sudan and beyond.
