Measuring Up to Sustainability Goals | UAE Hosts Second Gulf Metrology Forum in Dubai

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the Second Gulf Metrology Forum in Dubai from 22-23 April 2024 to promote the critical role of metrology in achieving sustainability goals.

Organized jointly by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Gulf Association for Metrology, the forum will bring together metrology experts, industry leaders and government officials under the theme "Metrology for Sustainability".

Accurate measurement and testing are essential for monitoring environmental impact, improving product quality and spurring innovation. The forum aims to raise awareness of how metrology supports key economic sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, energy and the environment. It will also provide a platform for knowledge sharing and demonstrating new measurement techniques.

Hosting the event highlights the UAE's leadership in quality infrastructure. The country ranks 11th globally on the UNIDO Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development Index, recognizing its world-class standards and conformance systems.

The forum agenda will cover strategic direction, quality infrastructure best practices and enhancing environmental monitoring through metrology. International organizations like BIPM, OIML and IMEKO will participate, along with regional standards bodies and emerging metrology professionals.

Workshops will equip participants with skills in areas such as legal metrology, chemical analysis and pre-packaged goods inspection. The forum takes place a month before World Metrology Day, underscoring Gulf cooperation on sustainability goals through accurate and reliable measurements.
