BRICS Acknowledges Five New Members Creating a Multipolar World

 

BRICS has increased its membership to include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia, ushering in a new age of partnership among developing powerful economies. The initiation procedure, which began in August 2023, was completed when the five countries were formally welcomed into the bloc alongside founding members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

At the August conference in Johannesburg, when Argentina was also invited, BRICS leaders recognized the new members' economic potential and geostrategic positions. Argentina's President Javier Milei, on the other hand, withdrew Argentina's BRICS application, aligning the country with more US-centric policies. 

The BRICS nations collectively represent nearly 3 billion people, 26% of the global economy, and a combined GDP in excess of $23 trillion. BRICS continues to redefine the narrative of global governance and cooperation in the multipolar world, controlling 30% of global territory and 18% of global trade.
