The aviation sector in Afghanistan has been facing multiple challenges in recent years, with the country's airports being severely damaged and many international airlines suspending their flights to and from Afghanistan. In response to this, GAAC Holding, a UAE-based company, signed a contract with the Taliban administration to operate the three major airports in Afghanistan.

After taking over the airport management, GAAC Holding made an urgent investment of USD 641,000 to restore the airport's functionality and safety. The company repaired the runway lights, installed generators, provided x-ray machines, metal detectors and explosive trace detectors, set up a temporary terminal building, and procured trolleys, tow tractors, loaders and buses. GAAC Holding also supplied food and water for airport workers and trained and employed more than 500 local staff to operate the airport.

Now, GAAC Holding has announced its plans to modernize and upgrade Afghanistan's airports, making them more efficient and improving the passenger experience. This move is expected to attract more international airlines and boost the country's tourism industry.

GAAC Holding's investment in Afghanistan's airports is a testament to the UAE's commitment to supporting its allies and helping rebuild countries that have been affected by conflict and instability. The company's efforts to modernize and upgrade Afghanistan's airports will not only benefit the Afghan people but also contribute to the region's economic development.

The UAE has been playing a key role in supporting Afghanistan's development efforts. In addition to investing in the country's infrastructure, the UAE has been providing humanitarian aid and supporting education and healthcare initiatives. The UAE's continued support for Afghanistan underscores its commitment to promoting stability and prosperity in the region.
