Sharjah and Belgium explore new partnership opportunities

 


The Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah and the Kingdom of Belgium recently held a meeting to explore new partnership avenues and opportunities. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Majid Al Qasimi, Director of the DGR in Sharjah, and Antoine Delcourt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the UAE, along with other officials from both sides.

During the meeting, the parties discussed various sectors for potential collaboration, including creative industries, culture, education, innovation, arts, environment, trade, and investment. The DGR Director briefed the delegation on the initiatives undertaken by the DGR to foster partnership opportunities in these areas. He also highlighted Sharjah's keenness in building relationships with the Kingdom of Belgium and strengthening ties with cities and countries around the world.

The two parties agreed to organize a Sharjah delegation visit to Belgium to bolster cooperation and partnership in all fields. They also discussed organizing visits for delegations, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic and consular corps to Sharjah's key destinations, such as the House of Wisdom and the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park.

The UAE and Belgium have enjoyed a strong relationship since the opening of the UAE Embassy in Brussels in 1976. The two sides have signed several agreements in different sectors, including economic, cultural, energy, environment, and climate change. The recent meeting is expected to advance their relations and open new prospects for cooperation in the future.

Commenting on the visit, Sheikh Majid Al Qasimi said, "We are confident that this meeting will advance our relations and open new prospects for cooperation in the future. As part of Sharjah's vision, we are committed to building bridges with cities and countries around the world and strengthening our relationships with our partners."

Ambassador Antoine Delcourt commended Sharjah's leading cultural role and efforts to bolster its status as an international cultural hub. He expressed his interest in visiting universities in Sharjah to discover more partnership opportunities in science and academics. "We are delighted to have held this meeting, which opens up cooperation opportunities with Sharjah through its diplomatic, cultural, academic, educational, and artistic institutions. We look forward to expanding our partnership in economic, trade, and investment sectors to include tourism, hospitality, retail, and others," he said.

In conclusion the meeting between the DGR in Sharjah and the Kingdom of Belgium highlights the importance of building strong relationships between countries and strengthening ties in different sectors. It also shows the commitment of both parties to fostering partnership opportunities and promoting mutual cooperation in various fields.
