UAE Sends Relief Aid to Brazil After Deadly Floods

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call today from His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Over 100 people have lost their lives as relentless rains caused landslides and flash flooding across several states.
Entire communities have been washed away and critical infrastructure badly damaged. It's being called one of the worst flooding disasters Brazil has seen.

Mohamed wasted no time in expressing his sincere condolences to Lula and the people of Brazil. He knew the UAE had to help in any way it could.
Mohamed immediately directed aid operations to start preparing emergency relief supplies to be airlifted to the affected regions.

Lula was grateful for the compassion and assistance from the Emiratis. In turn he offered his sympathies over the recent death of Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed.
Their talks focused on furthering cooperation between their countries. The two leaders reiterated their commitment to partnership in strategic areas such as economy, innovation, renewable energy and food security. Regional issues and global challenges were also prominent in his discussion. During the domestic crisis, these leaders maintained their focus on promoting international peace and stability.

The quick response from the UAE shows that the bond of friendship between these countries cannot be broken even by devastating natural disasters. Relief aid promises to lift some of the burden from those facing widespread loss and damage in Brazil. It is a helping hand provided without hesitation that will go a long way during this difficult phase of recovery.
