Nafis Program Empowering Emirati Nationals


Nafis Program

The Nafis program (meaning “competition” in Arabic) was launched on September 13, 2021 as part of the UAE’s “50 Projects” and aims to help Emirati citizens to pursue their professional careers in the private sector pursue. With the ambitious goal of creating 75,000 private sector jobs by 2025, the program has a number of different aspects by supporting Emirati nationals who wish to enter the labor market or to further develop their careers. It is also open to private sector employers to essentially work with the UAE government to facilitate employment opportunities and increase the number of UAE nationals in their organization. Along with Nafis, the UAE government has announced an overall target of 10% emiratization in the private sector by 2025 in skilled and knowledge-based roles (with the current requirement being 2% for commercial organisations).

Development, prosperity and stability are the tools that advance the people. The economic system based on diversity and on partnership between the public and private sectors is essential for the country’s economic future  

Eleven initiatives have been announced as part of the Nafis scheme (with nine being currently operational); these consist of the following:

*Career assistance 

*Salary subsidies 

*Pension subsidy 

*Support measures
