Registration opens for 2nd annual sustainability competition for universities

  The Institute of Environmental Management and Sustainability (IEMS) Academy, in partnership with the College of Business Administration at Ajman University, today launched the 2nd edition of its annual competition for universities dedicated to sustainability. The competition aims to encourage innovative solutions by students that have the potential to reshape the sustainability landscape in the country. Themed "Pathway to Net Zero: Innovating for a Sustainable Future", the competition's registration period runs from 2nd to 30th September. Running until early November, the competition invites participants to be part of a transformative journey aimed at driving innovations in sustainability and the net-zero transition while spotlighting the wider education sector within Ajman and the UAE. OpenAI says ChatGPT's weekly users have grown to 200 million

  AI startup OpenAI said its chatbot ChatGPT now has more than 200 million weekly active users, double the number it had in the last fall season, Reuters reported on Friday.   ChatGPT, launched in 2022, can generate human-like responses based on user prompts and had 100 million weekly active users, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had said in November. OpenAI said 92 percent of Fortune 500 companies are using its products and the use of its automated Application Programming Interface, or API, which allows software programs to talk to each other, has doubled since the launch of ChatGPT-4o mini in July.

Mpox detected in patient who traveled from Gulf country to Pakistan: Health ministry

  Pakistan’s health ministry has confirmed at least one case of the mpox virus in a patient who had returned from a Gulf country, it said on Friday, as provincial health authorities reported they had detected three cases. A health ministry spokesperson said the sequencing of the confirmed case was underway, and that it would not be clear which variant of mpox the patient had until the process was complete. A new form of the virus has triggered global concern because it seems to spread more easily though routine close contact. Earlier on Friday, the health department in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said three cases had been detected in patients on arrival from the United Arab Emirates. It was not clear whether the patient confirmed by the central health ministry was among the three.
